The Katsina State Government has initiated a comprehensive security operation to tackle the rising threat of terrorism in 19 local government areas.
This 30-day operation aims to restore peace and stability in the affected regions, which have been plagued by bandit attacks exploiting the rainy season and dense foliage.
The operation was announced by Commissioner Nasir Mu’azu after a high-level meeting at the Government House, convened by Governor Dikko Umar Radda to address the escalating security concerns.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including security officials, local government representatives, traditional leaders, and community groups from the 19 affected areas.
These areas include Jibia, Batsari, Safana, and 15 others, which have been targeted by bandits in recent times.
According to Mu’azu, the meeting resolved to adopt a community-based approach to security, harnessing local intelligence and participation to combat the threat.
This approach aims to leverage the strengths of local communities in the fight against terrorism and restore peace in the affected regions.
