  • The governor expressed commitment to the establishment of a modern health facility in Garko Town, aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people.

The Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf, has announced revocation of the contract for the construction of a five-kilometre road in Garko local government area over the contractor’s failure to mobilize at the site.’

This was disclosed in a post on Monday, published on his Facebook page.

Yusuf said a new and reliable contractor would be appointed within a few days to ensure the project’s timely completion.

The governor said he was delighted to personally inspect the Kafinchiri irrigation project, a flagship scheme in his government’s push to revolutionize agriculture.

He added that the project visit was a key stop on his rural development journey, stressing its role in sustaining agriculture and state growth.

“I was pleased to conduct an on-site assessment of the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project in Garko Local Government Area, a key initiative under our administration’s agricultural transformation drive,” the post reads.

“The project, valued at N2.5 billion, is aimed at bolstering year-round farming, enhancing food security, and driving economic growth in the state.

“My visit to the Kafinchiri Irrigation Project was part of my rural development tour, yesterday, highlighting it as a vital component of our efforts to promote continuous agricultural production in Kano State.

“Similarly, I announced the revocation of the contract for the Garko Local Government five-kilometer road project due to the contractor’s failure to mobilise to the site. We will ensure that a new and reliable contractor would be appointed within a few days to ensure the project’s timely completion.

“I also emphasised our commitment to establish a modern health facility in Garko town, aimed at bringing healthcare services closer to the people. – AKY.”
