  • The PDP spokesperson claimed that under the Tinubu administration, 150 million Nigerians have sunk below the poverty line.
  • He added that businesses are collapsing daily with an over 34 percent inflation rate, noting that there is an over 40 percent unemployment rate.

The People’s Democratic Party has denounced the recent fuel price hike, labeling it a brutal assault to Nigerians’ quality of life.

Debo Ologunagba, the party’s spokesperson, warned that this increase will spark a crisis, intensifying economic struggles under the APC regime.

The PDP condemned the APC government for its indifference and neglect of Nigerians’ suffering, with over 150 million living in poverty.

The party slammed the government’s opaque and corrupt handling of the petroleum sector, driving the economy to the brink with flawed policies.

The PDP questioned President Tinubu’s foreign travels, wondering what he discusses with international leaders regarding Nigeria’s economic woes.

The party reiterated its ignored advice on economic management and demanded an immediate fuel price reduction.

The statement reads in part “Today, under the Tinubu-led APC administration over 150 million Nigerians have sunk below poverty line, businesses are collapsing daily as the Naira now exchange for over N1,600 to a Dollar with over 34% inflation rate and over 40% unemployment rate which are expected to rise further with the latest draconian increase in the price of fuel.”

“The economy is on the verge of collapse due to the APC’s misguided policies, prompting a mass exodus of multinational companies.”

“President Tinubu, as Petroleum Minister, cannot absolve himself of the sector’s corrupt management, which threatens the economy.”

“The APC’s continued fuel price hikes, despite secretly paying N5.4 trillion in subsidies, is inexplicable.”

“The PDP wonders what President Tinubu discusses with foreign leaders regarding Nigeria’s dire state.”

“The PDP had offered economic advice, ignored by the APC, and now calls for an immediate fuel price reversal and policy overhaul.”
