The Nigerian Navy has reported significant achievements in its fight against crude oil theft, under Operation DELTA SANITY, in the Niger Delta region.

In a statement, the Director of Information, Commodore Adams Aliyu, detailed recent operations, including the seizure of seven large Cotonou and two fibre boats on 29 August, operated by armed oil thieves at an illegal loading point in Nembe, Bayelsa State.

On 31 August, six suspected oil thieves were arrested along with 109 sacks of illegally refined petroleum products, four fibre boats, and two wooden boats in the Ogboinbiri area of Bayelsa.

Further successes were recorded on 1 September, with the seizure of 328 sacks of illegally refined gas oil and two wooden boats at Otuogori riverbank in Yenagoa, and on 2 September, when 35 sacks of refined gas oil were confiscated in Southern Ijaw.

The Navy emphasized that these operations highlight the effectiveness of Operation DELTA SANITY in tackling crude oil theft and safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime environment.
