  • NYSC DG Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed assures corps members their monthly allowance will increase with the implementation of the new minimum wage
  • Ahmed encourages corps members to develop skills through the NYSC program, emphasizing self-reliance and contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development

Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has assured corps members that their monthly allowance will increase once civil servants receive the newly approved minimum wage.

This announcement was made in a statement by NYSC’s Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu. Brigadier General Ahmed provided this assurance while addressing corps members at the Kebbi State Orientation Camp in Dakingari and the Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.

He urged corps members to be patient and continue their significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic development, emphasizing that their efforts are greatly appreciated.

Brigadier General Ahmed encouraged the corps members to utilize their service year for personal development and to plan for future success. He specifically advised them to participate in the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program, which provides vocational training to foster self-reliance.

“Try to acquire skills that enable you to create jobs and employ others instead of merely searching for jobs. Many ex-corps members across the country are thriving in their vocations today,” he stated.

He also reassured the corps members that the NYSC would not post anyone to locations where their safety could be compromised and advised them always to remain security-conscious.
