  • Asue Ighodalo, PDP candidate for Edo governorship, pledges to concede defeat if the election is fair, emphasizing trust in voters
  • Ighodalo encourages Edo residents to vote and assures them of safety on election day, highlighting the importance of a level playing field

Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, has pledged to concede defeat if the election is conducted fairly and he loses.

In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Ighodalo expressed confidence in winning the election, but assured that he would accept defeat if the loss was legitimate. He emphasized that the choice of the next governor lies solely with the people of Edo State.

“The first question my daughter asked when I told her I’m running was, ‘Daddy, you’re not used to losing. If you lose this, how will you take it?’” Ighodalo shared.

He responded, “If we lose fairly and squarely, I will be the first to concede. But we can’t lose this election if the playing field is level. We’ve connected with the people of Edo, shared our plans, and they trust us.”
