  • The tremors were caused by stress along fault lines

The Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) has reassured residents of Abuja after recent earth tremors in the area.

In a statement, NGSA Director-General, Professor Olusegun Ige, said the tremors were low in magnitude and posed no significant threat to public safety.

The agency’s monitoring station in Katampe recorded several mild tremors between September 13 and 16, with the intensity increasing slightly over the days.

Ige explained that the tremors were caused by stress along fault lines and that most of the epicentres were located around Mpape and Katampe.
