Vice President Kashim Shettima has predicted that Nigeria is poised to become the leading hub for the global halal economy, citing the nation’s economic and demographic strengths.

Speaking at the Halal Economy Stakeholders Engagement Programme in Abuja, Shettima highlighted Nigeria’s potential to tap into the halal economy, which is projected to reach a market value of $7.7 trillion by 2025.

He emphasised the need to reassess weaknesses and prioritise strengths to develop a comprehensive halal ecosystem, positioning Nigeria as a top exporter to high-value markets.

Shettima also praised the private sector for driving growth in the halal economy and urged collaboration to attract international investment and expand regional trade through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
