  • Daniel Dubois retained his IBF heavyweight title with a fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua, dominating the fight at Wembley Stadium
  • Joshua struggled against Dubois’ power, leading to a decisive knockout; he may invoke a rematch clause or seek easier opponents

Daniel Dubois successfully retained his IBF world heavyweight title with a fifth-round knockout of Anthony Joshua in a highly anticipated all-British showdown at Wembley. The 27-year-old Dubois dominated the early stages of the bout, showcasing his relentless power against the two-time former unified heavyweight champion.

Joshua struggled to cope with Dubois’ onslaught despite his efforts. By the end of the fourth round, he was visibly shaken, stumbling and slipping around the ring. In the fifth round, although Joshua briefly rallied and landed significant punches, Dubois seized his moment, delivering a decisive right hand to Joshua’s jaw that knocked him out and ended the fight.

Dubois had previously described this fight as his potential “resurrection story” as he sought to prove himself by securing a title win. On the other hand, Joshua may invoke the re-match clause in their contract. If not, he could opt for a less challenging opponent to rebuild his career. At the same time, Dubois may face another IBF contender, such as Joseph Parker, or potentially await a fight with the winner of the Usyk vs Fury rematch for an undisputed title bout.
