  • It’s gathered that plans are underway to transport her remains to Kebbi State where funeral rites would hold later on Thursday.

The mother of immediate past Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdurrasheed Bawa, has passed away.

Bawa’s mother, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa, died in Sokoto on Wednesday night.

The former EFCC helmsman confirmed the development to Daily Trust.

“She died in UDUTH Sokoto and will be buried in Jega, Kebbi inshaAllah around 2:30pm,” he said.

It’s gathered that plans are underway to transport her remains to Kebbi State where funeral rites would hold later on Thursday.

Bawa, the first civilian to head EFCC, was nominated as substantive Chairman of the commission on February 16, 2021, and was subsequently confirmed by the National Assembly.

President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office in July.
