Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to remain patient and hopeful, assuring them that the nation’s brightest days are yet to come. He made this statement on Sunday during an inter-denominational church service at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, as part of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary celebrations.

Akpabio acknowledged the country’s difficulties but emphasized the importance of unity and faith in overcoming these challenges. He said, “Yes, the road ahead may be bumpy. Yes, there will be setbacks. But together, united in our faith and love for Nigeria, we will prevail.”

He encouraged Nigerians to hold on to hope, expressing optimism that Nigeria is on the path to becoming a prosperous nation. “Our journey to become a prosperous nation is just beginning, and I urge each of you to be patient, to hold on to hope, and to believe that change is not only possible but inevitable. Nigeria’s brightest days are ahead of us,” Akpabio added.

The Senate President praised Nigerians’ resilience, stating that from the early struggles for independence to the challenges of modern governance, the country’s people have always demonstrated an indomitable spirit. “When faced with adversity, we rise. When confronted with challenges, we unite,” he said, thanking God for the Nigerian spirit that has led the country through tough times.

Akpabio also commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, attributing hope for Nigeria’s future to his courage and dedication. He noted that under Tinubu’s administration, the 10th National Assembly passed key pro-development laws to foster growth and bring renewed hope to the citizens.

“As we commemorate Nigeria’s independence today, let us celebrate the achievements that have brought us this far. Our nation is in the process of a renewed hope project tailored to rejuvenate our economy, empower our people, and lift up the most vulnerable among us,” he said.

Archbishop Michael Akinwale of the Abuja Methodist Church of Nigeria also preached a message of hope, prophesying that Nigeria will be great again and emerge as a leader among nations. Similarly, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, highlighted the government’s efforts in nation-building, including the Student Loans scheme, advancements in the battle against insecurity, and initiatives related to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

Akume expressed optimism for Nigeria’s future under President Tinubu, saying, “I have a dream too, that this country under Asiwaju is going to be the most blessed, most successful, and prosperous in Africa and the world.”
