Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has introduced a new minimum wage of N73,000 for state employees.

Aiyedatiwa made this announcement during the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign kickoff in Ondo City, ahead of the November 16 election.

Although the federal government set the minimum wage at N70,000, Aiyedatiwa vowed that Ondo would surpass this, offering N73,000 to its employees.

Addressing supporters, the governor urged them to translate their backing into votes for APC, ensuring continuity of developmental projects statewide.

He said, “On November 16, I urge everyone gathered here and those absent to convert support into votes for APC, securing our progress.”

“Based on reports and observations, I’m confident you want this administration to continue beyond 2024.”

“I see your love and appreciation, and I don’t take it for granted. The best way to demonstrate this love is voting for continuity, yielding more democracy dividends.”

The governor highlighted his administration’s 10-month achievements, noting initiatives launched and those inherited from the late governor.

“In agriculture, significant strides boosted food production statewide.”

“We approved over a billion naira for land clearing and launched rural road construction projects, enhancing farmers’ activities and rural productivity.”

Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed commitment to security, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment.

His administration’s efforts, he noted, have encouraged doctors to stay, contrary to the “Japa” syndrome.

He added that to address this, doctors’ salaries and allowances were increased.

Engr. Ade Adetimehin, APC Chairman in Ondo, urged supporters to vote APC, maintaining power.

Adetimehin emphasized Aiyedatiwa’s infrastructural development and reminded members to safeguard voter cards.

Hon. Abiola Makinde, campaign Director-General, praised Governor Aiyedatiwa as a proven leader emerging from a transparent primary process.

Makinde encouraged supporters to mobilize voters locally.

On her part, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, highlighted Governor Aiyedatiwa’s accomplishments.

Former APC governorship aspirant, Chief Olusola Oke, stressed grassroots mobilization.

Hon. Kolade Akinjo, former PDP gubernatorial aspirant, joined APC due to Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership style.
