  • APC leaders in Somolu urged residents, especially youth, to remain hopeful in President Tinubu’s administration despite Nigeria’s current economic challenges
  • Former Chairman Bagostowe compared Nigeria’s hardships to labor pains, assuring citizens that these struggles will eventually lead to positive outcomes

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Somolu Local Government Area, Lagos State, have called on residents, particularly the youth, not to lose hope in President Bola Tinubu’s administration despite the current economic challenges.

In separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday, they expressed optimism that the nation’s socio-economic difficulties would soon ease.

Olorogun Bagostowe, the immediate past Chairman of Somolu Local Government, compared the present hardships to the labor pains a pregnant woman endures before giving birth. He reassured Nigerians that these struggles would eventually be forgotten.

“Our people need to stay calm. Nigeria has faced significant decay over the past 60 years. Chief Obafemi Awolowo even predicted this in the ’60s, warning that future generations would suffer from the mismanagement,” Bagostowe said.

He emphasized that President Tinubu is implementing reforms that should have been addressed long ago. While the policies may feel harsh now, they will ultimately benefit the nation.

Abdul-Hamed Salawu, popularly known as Dullar, the Executive Chairman of Somolu LGA, also urged patience, noting that Tinubu is trying to fix Nigeria’s economy and ensure sustainable growth.

“We need to be patient with Asiwaju,” Salawu said. “Conditions were bad before Tinubu took office, but there will be light at the end of the tunnel. The pain we feel now is like the labour pains of a pregnant woman, which are soon forgotten after childbirth.”

Salawu also encouraged the youth to avoid violence and focus on meaningful activities, assuring them that positive changes are coming.
