  • A disturbing video shows Boko Haram executing two Red Cross staff in Borno, with the group claiming retaliation against security forces’ mistreatment
  • Senator Ndume confirmed seeing the video and expressed frustration over the government’s inaction regarding ongoing attacks on Gwoza’s residents

A disturbing video surfaced yesterday showing Boko Haram militants executing two Red Cross staff members in Ngoshe, a community in Borno’s Gwoza Local Government Area.

Recently, reports of farmer killings and kidnappings have plagued the area, with terrorists also looting farms in Gwoza and Kirawa.

In the video, the Boko Haram leader, speaking in Hausa, accused security forces of mistreating their elders and children. He claimed that Allah had helped them capture Red Cross workers and elderly women, including his sister.

The leader said, “We’ll release the elderly women, including my sister, but the rest, our enemies, will be executed to prove our strength and that Allah is with us.”

The graphic video showed the victims being brutally killed with an axe, as the attackers shouted “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great).

Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents the region, confirmed that he had also seen the video but was working to verify its authenticity. He expressed frustration, stating that the federal government had ignored his warnings about continued attacks on Gwoza’s people.

Efforts to get a response from the Red Cross at the time of this report were unsuccessful.
