13 die in Kaduna road accident

  • Nadabo, who attributed the accident to excessive speeding, admonished drivers to always drive within the stipulated speed limits while on transit.

A ghastly road accident in Kaduna State on Friday has claimed thirteen lives.

The accident which happened on the busy Kaduna-Abuja expressway on Friday involved a Toyota Hiace marked GTG 96YA and a Golf Salon marked RBC 369XE.

The Kaduna State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the incident in Kaduna.

He disclosed that the remains of the dead had been deposited at St Gerard’s Hospital, while three who survived were immediately moved to AP Smart Hospital, Kakuri, for further treatment.

Nadabo, who attributed the accident to excessive speeding, admonished drivers to always drive within the stipulated speed limits while on transit.

“The road traffic crash occurred near Olam Farm on Kaduna-Abuja Highway about 3 p.m. when a Toyota Hiace marked GTG 96YA carrying 11 persons collided with a Golf Salon marked RBC 369XE with five passengers.”

“As we enter the ‘ember season fully, motorists are reminded of the need to adhere to basic safety ethics while traveling,” he said.

“FRSC is committed to ensuring the roads are safe for all users.

“The Corps extends its sincere gratitude to the Kaduna State Government for the continuous support in FRSC activities,” Nadabo said
