  • He also stated that her suspension and eventual dismissal may not be unconnected to the report of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on her submitted to Tinubu

The former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Betta Edu, is no longer part of President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, the presidency has said.

Recall that Edu was suspended on January 8 following public outrage over an alleged N585 million scandal.

Prior to the Wednesday cabinet reshuffling, there were feelers that the suspended minister may return to the government.

However, her name was conspicuously missing from the list of the newly appointed ministers and those redeployed.

Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the time of the embattled former minister was up and ruled out the possibility of her returning to Tinubu’s cabinet or playing any role in it.

Onanuga, who made this known during an interview on Channels Television, said the president has replaced Edu with someone from Plateau State.

He also stated that her suspension and eventual dismissal may not be unconnected to the report of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on her submitted to Tinubu.

“Betta Edu is gone. Her position has been taken by someone from Plateau State. As far as this government is concerned, there is no place for her in this cabinet.

“The EFCC has not shared what they have but if you go by what the president has done, it shows that EFCC must have submitted something that actually justified that suspension,” he said in an interview with Channels TV.
