The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to combating terrorism in West Africa and the African continent as a whole by supporting the Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Centre (IMCTC).

Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, Minister of Defence, made this assurance during a meeting in Abuja with a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Islamic Military Counter-Terrorism Coalition, led by Major General Mohammed bin Saleem Al-Moghidi.

Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations for the Federal Ministry of Defence, made this statement available to Defence Correspondents in Abuja.

According to the statement, while responding to the leader of the delegation’s remarks, Badaru said, “We are ready and willing to work with you hand in hand to achieve the set objectives.”

“When we talk about counter-terrorism today, we must critically examine West Africa and Africa in general. It is bleeding, and whatever action you are taking, we will support. I believe these countries in this region need a lot of support.”

“By supporting the IMCTC, Nigeria reaffirms its dedication to regional and global security, underscoring the importance of collective action in combating terrorism.”

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Major General Mohammed bin Saleem Al-Moghidi, stated that Nigeria and Saudi Arabia already have an existing bilateral relationship and that the purpose of their visit was to strengthen that relationship through intelligence sharing and training.
