  • In Lagos, an NNPCL station in Ikeja sold fuel at N1,020 per litre.
  • In Abuja, at federal housing, Kubwa, an NNPC retail station sold the product at N1,050 per litre.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has effected another price hike for premium motor spirit (PMS), or petrol, across its retail outlets.

On Tuesday, checks by WITHIN NIGERIA gathered and observed the second price increase this month, with NNPC raising the pump price from N855 to N998 per litre.

At NNPC’s Ago Palace Way and Okota, Lagos, retail outlets, PMS now sells for N1,025 per litre.

In Abuja’s federal housing, Kubwa, NNPC sold petrol at N1,050 per litre.

Private filling stations like Mobil, Rain Oil and AA Rano adjusted prices to N1,100-N1,250 per litre.

This increase follows the NNPC’s commencement of petrol lifting at Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s gantry after prolonged price negotiations.

On September 15, NNPC announced buying petrol from Dangote refinery at N898 per litre.

Dangote refinery countered NNPC’s claim, labeling it “both misleading and mischievous.”

Next day, NNPC announced estimated pump prices based on Dangote refinery’s rates: N950 in Lagos, N999 in Abuja.

On October 10, IPMAN requested NNPC refund oil marketers’ money or sell petrol at Dangote refinery’s rate.

IPMAN claimed members’ funds have been with NNPC for over three months.

NNPC collected PMS from Dangote refinery below N900 per litre but wants marketers to buy at N1,010-N1,050.

On October 11, the federal government allowed oil marketers to buy directly from Dangote refinery and local producers.

This directive came a week after ordering Dangote refinery to sell petrol exclusively to NNPC.
