Minister of Works, David Umahi, has issued a stern warning to contractors handling government projects, stating that any contractor lacking the equipment promised in their bid will face contract termination.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting broadcast live on NTA, Umahi emphasised the importance of accountability in ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar highway.

He outlined recent budget allocations, revealing that 260 projects and 50 bridge interventions had been identified, with a total budget of 207 billion naira.

Umahi noted that 100 billion naira had been allocated for 2023, with the remaining 107 billion carried over to 2024. He announced that the ministry had achieved over 95% project completion and would publish performance details within 10 days for public scrutiny.
