  • The governor said that his administration would develop the capacity of the institution by retraining and training all teachers in the state.

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has directed all state-owned tertiary institutions to conduct annual convocation programs.

He issued this directive during the Combined Convocation Ceremony of the 1994 to 2023 graduands of the Taraba State College of Education Zing.

The governor expressed dissatisfaction with institutions delaying convocation, warning that he would query any institution that fails to comply.

Mr. Kefas emphasized his administration’s commitment to enhancing the institution’s capacity through teacher training and retraining .

He also vowed to address any official hindering his free and compulsory education policy.

“I want to make it clear today that I can tolerate any unwholesome conduct anywhere but not in education,” he stated.

“I congratulate you, the graduands, and I charge you to be good ambassadors of the institution, wherever you go.”

The Provost, Ejika Sambo, announced that 19,700 graduands across various departments and courses were being convocated .

He noted that the college offers National Certificate in Education (NCE) and degree programs, with 70 lecturers holding doctorate degrees.

All courses are accredited by relevant authorities, Mr. Sambo added.

He thanked the governor for supporting program accreditation and assured the college’s continued capacity to train teachers.

Established in 1978 in the then Gongola State, the college has grown significantly.
