  • The Nigerian Railway Corporation increased Abuja-Kaduna train services from four to six daily trips to meet rising passenger demand
  • NRC’s analysis showed a 22% increase in new passengers, reflecting a growing preference for train travel due to comfort and safety

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has expanded its train services on the Abuja-Kaduna route, increasing the frequency from four to six trips on weekdays (Monday to Friday).

This update, announced in a statement by Yakub Mohmood, Deputy Director of Public Relations, is designed to meet the rising demand for train travel on this route.

The decision follows a five-month analysis showing a 22% increase in new passengers registering on the ticket platform for the Abuja-Kaduna service. The NRC attributes this growth to passengers increasingly choosing trains for their comfort, reliability, and safety.

Mohmood reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to improving customer satisfaction, particularly by addressing issues such as ticket racketeering.

The NRC has also observed similar rising demand trends on other routes, including Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Port Harcourt-Aba, and is working to enhance services on these lines as well.

This recent increase in Abuja-Kaduna train trips follows similar expansions on the Lagos-Ibadan route, as the NRC continues efforts to better serve passengers nationwide.
