Minister of Defence wife’s driver drowns in Kano well

In Kano State, one Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku on Saturday tripped and fell into an abandoned well and drowned

The incident happened at CBN Quarters on Hadejia Road in Kano Metropolis late Saturday night, leaving the residents of the area in shock.

The Public Relations Officer, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, confirmed the tragic incident to newsmen.

The deceased was said to be driver of the the first wife of the Minister of Defence.

Abdullahi stated that the victim after dropping off guests at a nearby house, he stepped out of the vehicle to urinate, unaware of the abandoned well and debris in the area.

Saminu noted that the cover of the well caved in leading to Uku slipping into the abandoned well thus resulting in his tragic death.

The PRO disclosed that the state fire service, led by Hassan Ahmad Muhammad, quickly responded to the emergency call and the rescue team arrived at the disaster scene within 15 minutes.

“Unfortunately, the victim who was rescued unconscious was later pronounced dead on arrival at the Sir Sunusi Hospital.”

“The body was subsequently handed over to CPL Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division for further investigation,” he said
