  • In July, President Bola Tinubu signed the minimum wage bill, increasing the workers’ pay package from N30,000 to N70,000, into law.
  • The negotiation process took a whole lot of time before an agreement could be reached.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr Nyesom Wike, has given the go-ahead for the payment of N70,000 as the new minimum wage for FCT Administration staff.

This development was made public by the Acting Head of the Civil Service of FCT, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, through a statement issued by her Press Secretary, Ewhenji Anthony Odey, on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Minister has also approved the payment of three months’ arrears for all staff of the Administration, effective November 2024.

According to the statement, this move demonstrates the Minister’s commitment to the welfare of the staff.
