The media mogul disclosed that he spent fifty million naira to purchase the party’s nomination form but failed to secure even a single delegate vote.

He made the disclosure during a podcast episode of Key to Keys Show.

Momodu underscored the financial and systemic barriers that shape Nigeria’s political terrain.

Momodu lamented the monetization of Nigeria’s political system, alleging that some aspirants allegedly offered up to $30,000 per delegate to secure their votes.

For years on end, there have been strident calls for the de-monetization of Nigerian politics as the huge amount of financial warchest needed to contest and win election at any level is not only shutting out capable and competent Nigerians from vying for public offices but also mitigating against the growth and development of the country.

To address the issue, experts have said Nigeria will have to move away from the expensive American-style presidential system of government to the Westminster style parliament system it practiced in the first republic.
