The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has dismissed a fake list of ambassadorial nominees circulating on social media, urging the public to disregard it.

In a press statement issued Sunday, spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa clarified that no ambassadorial appointments have been made, stressing that such decisions remain the exclusive prerogative of President Bola Tinubu.

“The purported list should be discountenanced,” the statement read, reaffirming that the President has not approved any ambassadorial nominations.

This follows President Tinubu’s recall of all career and non-career ambassadors on September 2, 2023, with a directive to return by October 31, 2023. Despite the recall, replacements for the 83 ambassadors appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2020 have yet to be announced.
