President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany will arrive in Nigeria on December 10 for a three-day official visit, concluding on December 12, 2024.
The German Embassy in Abuja announced the visit through a press release issued on Monday.
During his stay, President Steinmeier will hold discussions with prominent Nigerian leaders, including President Bola Tinubu and the President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, Dr. Alieu Touray.
In Abuja, the German President will engage in bilateral talks with Nigerian officials before travelling to Lagos.
His Lagos itinerary includes meetings with business representatives, a visit to a start-up hub, and interactions with cultural and civil society figures such as artist Dr. Nike Okundaye and Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka.
President Steinmeier will also tour Lagos, gaining insights into the urban development challenges and opportunities in Africa’s largest city.
Accompanying him will be a delegation of German business leaders, including CEOs and high-ranking executives from industries such as IT, high-tech, and energy. This reflects the growing interest of German companies in investment opportunities in Nigeria.
The German Embassy emphasized the significance of the visit, noting it as a step toward strengthening bilateral relations and exploring collaborative opportunities in economic, cultural, and urban development sectors.
