The Senate has ordered the arrest of the Managing Director of Julius Berger PLC over failure to appear before its Committee on Works to explain the stalled execution of the Itu-Odukpani highway contract.

President of the Senate, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, announced the resolution to issue an arrest warrant against the MD during plenary in Abuja on Thursday.

In another development, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio has appointed the outgoing Clerk of the Senate, Chinedu Akabueze as the new Chief of Staff.

Akabueze will succeed Sylvester Okonkwo, the former Chief of Staff, who has been appointed as the Executive Director of the newly established South East Development Commission.

Akabueze is retiring after serving as Senate Clerk since March 4, 2022, and reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

The National Assembly Service Commission had approved the appointment of Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate, effective December 11, 2024
