Finland government freezes Simon Ekpa’s assets

...places him in ‘toughest prison'

The assets of Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed Biafra agitator, have been frozen by Finnish authorities.

Ekpa, who is currently in detention, was arrested alongside four of his alleged accomplices for terror-related activities.

According to the latest reports, the assets of companies associated with Ekpa and four of his accomplices have also been frozen.

The development was confirmed by a local newspaper Yle which also disclosed that Ekpa is being held in Kylmäkoski Vankila (Kylmäkoski Prison), one of the world’s toughest prisons.

Kylmäkoski Prison is a high-security facility in Vanhamaantie, Akaa, Finland.

Ekpa will face charges for alleged terrorism-related activities in May 2025.

The date was disclosed by Mikko Laaksonen, a Senior Detective Superintendent at Finland’s National Bureau of Investigation.

“Due to the ongoing investigation, no further details can be disclosed. The date for bringing up possible charges by the prosecution was set by the district court to May 2025,” Laaksonen said.
