The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, Uche Secondus, has thrown jabs at Nyesom Wike, ex-governor of Rivers, saying he’s not above everyone.

Secondus spoke on Tuesday while accompanying Governor Siminalayi Fubara to inaugurate 14km Bori internal roads in Khana LGA of Rivers.

Fubara and Wike, minister of the federal capital territory, have been at odds over control of the state’s political structure.

Their feud has sparked a political crisis, led to conflicting court orders, and polarized the Rivers house of assembly.

In April, Wike criticized Secondus and some PDP leaders in Rivers for backing Fubara.

Wike also described Secondus as “expired politician” unworthy of being called “elder statesmen.”

At the road commissioning, Secondus criticized Wike, noting he’s a beneficiary of his political struggle.

Secondus also criticized Wike for acting like “he fell from heaven.”

“Those who are shouting in Abuja, how were they made? It was God. Some of us, and the leaders seated here today, made it possible.

“God first, because we do not want to take God’s glory,” Nelson Chukwudi quoted Secondus as saying.

Secondus described Fubara as a humble man with respect for elders.

“I can tell you, the test of a leader is when you find yourself in confusion and frustration, yet come out of it with even greater faith,” Secondus said.

“Like Governor Fubara, you will see the real leader of the people. He is not a man who seeks accolades.

“Do not worry. Power comes from God. The same way God gave it to him through us, God has given it to you.

“One thing that is important in the Ten Commandments is, ‘love your neighbor as yourself’. “You are spreading that part of the Ten Commandments across our state.
