A early morning fire engulfed spare parts market at Gate, Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday.
WITHIN NIGERIA learnt that properties worth billions of naira were destroyed by the inferno.
The fire according to eye witnesses started around midnight, continued to rage as firefighters and local residents worked tirelessly to control the flames.
Confirming the fire incident, the General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services, Mr. Akinyemi Akinyinka, said there is an ongoing effort to put the fire to rest, urging water tanker owners to assist in the effort.
“The cause of the fire remains unknown, with investigations currently underway to determine its source,” he added.
