  • Speaking at the event, Special Adviser Ogungbo Opeyemi praised the dedication of Lagos State’s civil servants, describing them as “champions” driving the state’s revenue growth

The Lagos State Government has trained 450 revenue officers on its Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP) and Artificial Intelligence Chatbot, Madam Shikini, as part of efforts to meet its 2025 revenue targets.

The training, organised by the Office of the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, included representatives from over 100 revenue-generating Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Speaking at the event, Special Adviser Ogungbo Opeyemi praised the dedication of Lagos State’s civil servants, describing them as “champions” driving the state’s revenue growth.

“The progress we’ve achieved in revenue generation wouldn’t have been possible without your unwavering support and commitment,” he said.

He highlighted that the LRP, launched by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in August 2024, aims to streamline revenue collection through a unified digital platform. The governor has mandated all revenue-generating MDAs to integrate into the portal, which serves as a one-stop shop for managing revenue transactions.

At the heart of these reforms is the introduction of a Unique Payer ID to ensure secure, transparent, and efficient tracking of payments.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Corporate Finance and Strategy, Akintayo Sanwo-Olu, emphasised the importance of tax compliance and reforms.

“We need every civil servant to understand the importance of this revenue drive and their role in achieving our targets for 2025,” he said, calling on citizens and government workers alike to meet their tax obligations.

The training reflects Lagos State’s determination to strengthen its fiscal framework and improve service delivery.
