  • Chief Bode George criticized President Tinubu’s media chat, stating it lacked empathy and failed to address the struggles of ordinary Nigerians
  • George urged Tinubu to listen to citizens’ concerns, emphasizing that dismissing their hardships could worsen the already tense atmosphere in Nigeria

Chief Bode George has criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent media chat, describing it as lacking empathy and humanity. George expressed his views during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Tinubu’s media chat, held on Monday, was his first since assuming office. During the session, the president stated he had no regrets about removing the fuel subsidy.

This remark drew sharp reactions from George, who urged Tinubu to listen to the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

“There is widespread anger and hunger in Nigeria,” George said, pointing to incidents where lives were lost during food distribution stampedes. He questioned the lack of compassion in Tinubu’s comments.

George added, “If someone believes the people elected them, how can they repay good with bad? Poverty, hunger, and anger are everywhere.

Those involved in the stampedes were desperate. Would they risk their lives for a small handout if they were doing fine?”

He expressed disappointment over Tinubu’s stance, noting, “There was no calmness, no humanity in his tone.

Saying there’s no need to revisit these issues shows a lack of understanding. Journalists presented the harsh realities, yet he said nothing meaningful in response.”

George also criticized the administration’s approach, describing it as harsh and out of touch with citizens’ struggles. “Leadership is not about force or insensitivity.

This is not a military regime. If the people supported you, do you repay them with disregard? Such an attitude is unacceptable.”

He urged Tinubu to adopt a more compassionate and people-focused leadership style, warning that dismissing citizens’ concerns could worsen the already tense atmosphere in the country.
