The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, has allocated N35 million for cybersecurity following the breach of its website security.

Recall that the agency’s website was hacked on December 18, 2024 shortly after it published the impact of insecurity on Nigerians.

In its crime experience and security perception survey, the agency claimed that Nigerians paid N2.23 trillion as ransom in one year between May 2023 and April 2024.

Following the cyber attack that compromised its website and undermine its works, the bureau in its 2025 budget decided to set aside funds to shore up the protection of its work on digital space.

Other allocations include N55 million for the National Agricultural Sample Survey, N50 million for tracking the 8-Point Agenda, and N45 million for service delivery capacity building.

Notable projects also feature N15 million for demographic statistics and N9 million for the Annual Abstract of Statistics
