  • Kai Havertz scored the only goal in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Ipswich Town, securing second place in the Premier League standings
  • Arsenal dominated possession with 83.5% but struggled to create clear chances, ending the match with a narrow win over Ipswich

Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal as Arsenal edged past Ipswich Town to secure second place in the Premier League standings.

The pivotal moment came early, in the 23rd minute. Leandro Trossard, positioned near the left corner of the penalty area, delivered a precise cross. Havertz met it with a close-range tap-in, sealing the match’s only goal.

Throughout the first half, Arsenal dominated possession, controlling 83.5% of the ball. Meanwhile, Ipswich, led by Kieran McKenna, focused on defense and rarely crossed into Arsenal’s half.

Arsenal seemed to double their lead at one point. Declan Rice’s curling effort missed narrowly, and Gabriel found the net by sliding the ball under Arijanet Muric. However, the goal was ruled out for offside.

The single goal proved enough for Arsenal. The win places them just six points behind league leaders Liverpool, who still have a game in hand.

Mikel Arteta’s team ends the year as the only Premier League side unbeaten at home.

On Friday night’s other Premier League clash, Brighton and Brentford played out a goalless draw.
