Nigeria has expressed readiness to engage in dialogue with Niger Republic to address growing diplomatic tensions.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to peace and stability in a statement on Tuesday.

He called for discussions to address allegations by Niger’s junta leader, Gen. Abdourahman Tchiani, who accused Nigeria of colluding with France to destabilise his country.

Tuggar dismissed the claims as baseless and reiterated Nigeria’s respect for Niger’s sovereignty. “We encourage open, constructive dialogue to address mutual concerns and explore measures to ease the humanitarian impact on border communities,” he said.
