Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has described as false the reports claiming there are established bandit camps within the state.

The governor debunked the reports on Thursday while addressing newsmen after a closed door security meeting held at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.

According to him, most of the bandits operating in Kebbi come from neighbouring states, as the state shares borders with three states and two countries.

He stated that the state government has made significant efforts to address security challenges over the past year.

According to him, the purpose of the recent meeting was to devise strategies and plans for the year 2025.

To further enhance the fight against banditry, Governor Idris announced plans to strengthen the operations of vigilante groups complementing security forces in the state.

He added that as part of the efforts, the government will procure 1,000 motorcycles for the vigilante groups to boost their mobility and efficiency.
