The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has apprehended Uadiale Christiana Jacob, also known as Christy Gold, a notorious member of an international human trafficking syndicate.
Gold was arrested on December 31, 2024, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, upon her return from Dubai, where she had travelled for New Year celebrations.
According to NAPTIP, Gold had been on the run for over five years after fleeing to the UAE. She had violated bail conditions and was convicted in absentia for trafficking underage Nigerian girls for forced prostitution in Dubai.
Her arrest followed extensive collaboration between NAPTIP, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Interpol, and UAE authorities.
Speaking on the development, NAPTIP’s Director General, Binta Adamu Bello, praised the collaborative efforts of intelligence agencies. She also issued a stern warning to other traffickers.
“This sends a clear message to the criminal network: you can hide for a while but not forever. We remain committed to protecting Nigerians from trafficking and exploitation,” Bello stated.
The arrest marks a significant victory in the fight against human trafficking, reinforcing the agency’s dedication to justice and safeguarding vulnerable citizens.
