  • David Moyes has returned as Everton manager, signing a two-and-a-half-year contract following the dismissal of Sean Dyche
  • Moyes expressed excitement about rejoining Everton, emphasizing the need for fan support during this critical season to avoid relegation

Premier League club Everton has announced David Moyes’s return as manager following Sean Dyche’s dismissal. The 61-year-old Scot has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract at Goodison Park, marking his second spell at the club.

Everton sits 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone, with only three wins from 19 games this season.

Reflecting on his return, Moyes said, “I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club.

Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to get behind the players during this critical season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”

Moyes initially managed Everton from 2002 to 2013, before moving on to manage Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland, and two stints at West Ham United.

He most recently guided West Ham to victory in the 2023 Europa Conference League before departing at the end of last season.

During his first tenure at Everton, Moyes led the team to consistent top-eight finishes, including a fourth-place finish in the 2004-05 season that secured Champions League qualification.

He also guided the team to the FA Cup final in 2009 and played a pivotal role in launching the career of Wayne Rooney.

Moyes’ initial departure from Everton in 2013 saw him succeed Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United, though his tenure was short-lived, ending in April 2014.

He later managed Real Sociedad and Sunderland before returning to West Ham, where he achieved top-seven finishes and secured a historic trophy win.

Now tasked with lifting Everton from their precarious position, Moyes faces a crucial mission to stabilize the club and ensure its continued Premier League status.
