Ekiti Cargo Airport Poised for Takeoff with 99.5% Readiness

  • Festus Keyamo declared the Ekiti Agro-Allied Cargo International Airport 99.5% ready for commercial operations, with essential infrastructure in place
  • The airport features an international standard runway capable of accommodating various aircraft types and is set for non-scheduled flights

The Ekiti Agro-Allied Cargo International Airport is 99.5% ready for full commercial use, according to Festus Keyamo, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

During a joint inspection with Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ado-Ekiti, Keyamo confirmed that nearly all necessary infrastructure is in place.

Key facilities, such as aviation security, fire services, and navigational aids, are operational, leaving only minor tasks before completion.

“The airport is 99.5% ready for commercial operations. Essential requirements for take-off are in place,” Keyamo stated.

He highlighted the airport’s international-standard runway, capable of accommodating various aircraft types. Non-scheduled flights can begin immediately, he added.

Keyamo applauded Governor Oyebanji and Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, founder of Afe Babalola University, for their vital roles in advancing the project.

Governor Oyebanji thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the project financially. He emphasized the airport’s potential to drive growth in agriculture, trade, and tourism across the state.
