  • The LP chair denied the viral report of a growing cold war between him and the camps of Obi and Otti.
  • Abure’s comment comes in the wake of last Friday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal recognising him as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
  • The court nullified the LP Caretaker Committee, headed by Nenadi Usman, set by the Obi and Otti’s camp to steer the affairs of the party.

Labour Party’s national chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, has expressed the party’s willingness to resolve issues with Peter Obi, Dr. Alex Otti, and other stakeholders.

Abure made this statement on the sidelines of a meeting between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political parties in Abuja.

According to Abure, the misunderstanding has been exaggerated and should be viewed as a family matter that requires amicable resolution.

Abure stated, “I am sure that very soon, all our differences will be put aside, and we will again speak authoritatively with one voice and come out stronger and very effective in the political space.

“There is no political party without some differences, it is a game of interests and there will always be conflicting interests in every political environment.

Abure also commended the High Court and Court of Appeal for their judgments in favour of the Labour Party.

He vowed to reconcile all aggrieved party members and reposition the party for future elections under his leadership.

Abure said, “Let me first appreciate the Appeal Court for doing justice… So we want to appreciate the Court of Appeal judges.

“I want to say essentially, that the squabbles within the party ought to be a family affair… For me, there are no hard feelings.

“For me, I am open for reconciliation, and the party will apply every measure to bring everybody within the party for us to discuss and chart a way forward for the party.
