Sheikh Shariff Saleh-Al-Hussaini, a prominent Islamic scholar and Chairman of the Fatwa Committee of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has called on the federal government to address Nigerians’ escalating economic challenges.

Speaking during a media parley at his residence in Abuja, Sheikh Saleh-Al-Hussaini expressed deep concern over the widespread hardship in the country.

He urged the government to implement policies to alleviate poverty, improve living conditions, and foster economic recovery.

Sheikh Saleh-Al-Hussaini highlighted the urgent need for the government to address insecurity, including insurgency and banditry, which he said are major obstacles to economic and social stability.

He stressed that peace is critical for national development and economic recovery.

Acknowledging the role of every citizen in achieving national progress, the cleric encouraged Nigerians to contribute to fostering unity, security, and sustainable development.

Sheikh Saleh-Al-Hussaini expressed gratitude to Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, for awarding him an honorary doctorate, recognizing the contributions of religious leaders to nation-building.

He also appealed to media practitioners to prioritize national interest and good governance in their work, while advising public officeholders to respect citizens’ concerns as reported in the media.

The Islamic scholar concluded by urging Nigerians to deepen their faith in God, pray for the nation’s peace, and appreciate the divine wisdom in uniting Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups under one entity.
