  • Governor Bala Mohammed labeled Nyesom Wike a “transactional politician” whose personal ambitions consistently overshadow loyalty and collective party interests
  • Mohammed criticized Wike’s political style as divisive, accusing him of undermining the PDP and prioritizing personal gain over public service

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has strongly criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for his recent political actions and remarks.

Governor Mohammed labelled Wike as a “political mercenary” whose ambition often overshadows loyalty and collective interests. His remarks were a response to comments made by Wike during a recent media chat, where references were made to Mohammed.

As chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Mohammed has been actively rallying support for Rivers State Governor Siminilayi Fubara during the state’s political unrest.

In a statement issued in Bauchi, Governor Mohammed accused Wike of prioritizing personal ambition over public service. He described Wike’s political style as divisive and self-serving, criticizing his tendency to undermine the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform that propelled him into political prominence.

The statement read, “Sen. Bala Mohammed, Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, has noted the bombastic and disjointed media chat by Chief Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. Contradictions and shifting loyalties mark Wike’s characteristic tirades.”

Mohammed further stated, “Chief Wike’s rise in politics is owed to opportunities provided by the PDP, yet he now undermines the foundation that nurtured him.

His media outbursts highlight his transactional approach to politics, where personal ambition eclipses loyalty and collective interests.”

Contrasting his leadership style with Wike’s, Mohammed emphasized prioritizing public service over theatrics. He accused Wike of being unreliable and opportunistic, traits that have alienated even his closest allies.

Governor Mohammed’s statement concluded with a call to action for leaders to focus on unity and the collective good, rather than divisive politics driven by personal ambition.
