  • The Transmission Company of Nigeria has relocated eight transmission towers, restoring full power supply to the Federal Capital Territory
  • This relocation, essential for a road project, involved dismantling towers and restringing cables to ensure normal power distribution

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has completed the relocation of eight 132kV and 33kV transmission towers along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line. This achievement has restored full power supply to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), bringing relief to residents.

In a statement released on Friday by Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, the company confirmed the resumption of bulk power supply to the 132/33kV Apo transmission substation. This ensures normal power distribution across the affected areas.

The relocation of the towers was necessitated by the Federal Capital Development Authority’s (FCDA) road dualization project.

Earlier, TCN announced that the process would involve planned power outages from January 6 to January 20, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

The scheduled work included dismantling the towers, constructing new ones, and restringing power cables to restore bulk power supply from Gwagwalada to the Apo transmission substation.

TCN emphasized that relocating the towers was crucial for completing the road project, assuring residents that every effort was made to minimize disruption and restore power promptly.

The restoration of power marks a significant step in improving electricity distribution in the FCT, ensuring reliable service for households and businesses.
