The Nigerian military has recovered two calibrated aircraft engines from a long-lost crash site in Borno State, alongside other weapons and military equipment.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Markus Kangye, disclosed this on Wednesday at a press briefing held at Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, between January 3 and February 13, 2025, the military killed at least 75 terrorists, arrested 138 suspects, and rescued 46 hostages during various operations.

  • Aircraft parts: Two calibrated aircraft engines recovered from an unidentified crash site.
  • Heavy weapons: One double-barrel cannon gun and 16 missiles seized.
  • Firearms and ammunition: 104 assorted weapons and 2,639 rounds of ammunition recovered.
  • Oil theft crackdown: 36 suspected oil thieves arrested, with stolen products worth ₦646,189,690 confiscated.

In the Niger Delta region, the military intensified operations against illegal oil refining, leading to significant recoveries:

  • 497,152 litres of stolen crude oil.
  • 142,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
  • 4,075 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
  • 164 illegal crude oil cooking ovens destroyed.
  • 37 dugout pits, 19 boats, 16 storage tanks, and 42 illegal refining sites dismantled.
  • Three pumping machines, four tricycles, seven motorcycles, five mobile phones, and three vehicles seized.

The military vowed to sustain its aggressive operations against criminal elements across the country.
