  • The outspoken Ijaw leader and critic was senator for three months in 1983 during the Shehu Shagari administration.
  • Clark spent the rest of his life advocating for the rights and development of the oil-rich Niger Delta region.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Edwin Clark, a renowned leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum and esteemed statesman.

Keyamo conveyed his condolences through a brief statement on his X handle on Tuesday, praising Clark’s exceptional leadership qualities.

The minister described Clark as a skilled politician and fearless critic who spoke truth to power.

“Our leader and father is gone at a time we needed him most. Pa Edwin Clark, leader of the South-South, father of the nation and quintessential patriot is no more.
