FG resolves passport printer crisis in Atlanta, US Consulates

• Tunji-Ojo said the installation of the new printers demonstrates their dedication to addressing the needs of Nigerians at home and abroad.

The federal government has successfully addressed the passport printer issue in Atlanta and US consulates.

This development was announced in a statement by Babatunde Alao, Media Assistant to Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in Abuja.

Nigerians living abroad had previously brought the need for new printers to the Minister’s attention to facilitate passport applications.

The newly installed printers offer immediate relief and are part of the Ministry’s efforts to simplify passport services and create a smoother application process.

Ongoing reforms, including the Abuja Passport Personalisation Centre and expanded contactless solutions, will enhance service efficiency.

“Following the directives of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in January 2025 to deliver new passport printers to consulates in New York and Atlanta, United States of America, the machines have now been delivered and installed as of yesterday, February 18, 2025.

“In addition, the development reflects the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) and demonstrates the administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians,” the statement said.

Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to innovation and enhanced service delivery.

He stated that the new printers demonstrate their dedication to meeting the needs of Nigerians worldwide.

“With these new printers, Nigerians in Atlanta and New York can expect a faster and more efficient passport application process,” he said.
