Pep Guardiola’s side aimed to overturn a 3-2 deficit from the first leg. However, Mbappe’s goals in the 4th, 33rd, and 61st minutes sealed Real Madrid’s win. Nico González grabbed a late consolation for Manchester City in added time.

Elsewhere, PSV Eindhoven put on a brilliant display to overturn their first-leg deficit against Juventus and secure a spot in the last 16.

The Dutch side had lost 2-1 in Turin but dominated at home. Ivan Perisic and Ismael Saibari scored on either side of a stunning Timothy Weah goal, making it 3-3 on aggregate in normal time.

Ryan Flamingo then netted the extra-time winner, sending PSV through and eliminating Juventus. PSV will now face either Arsenal or Inter Milan in the next round.

Borussia Dortmund and Sporting played out a goalless draw in Germany, but Dortmund advanced with a 3-0 aggregate win. Meanwhile, PSG demolished Brest 7-0, completing a dominant 10-0 aggregate victory.

The draw for the round of 16 will take place on Friday.
