  • The Oyo state governor emphasised the PDP’s commitment to peaceful governance and delivering dividends to the people of Osun.

Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, has warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) against causing instability in Osun State, emphasising respect for legal frameworks and discouraging unlawful actions.

Speaking on Sunday in Osogbo on behalf of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum, Makinde underscored the necessity for politicians to settle conflicts through judicial means instead of creating chaos.

He was accompanied by the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, as they attended the official inauguration of newly elected local government chairmen.

The PDP Governors’ Forum highlighted the significance of learning from past experiences and refraining from actions that could destabilize Osun State.

“Osun should not be turned into a battleground over issues that can be resolved by the judiciary,” Makinde stated.

While addressing the audience, Makinde reaffirmed the PDP’s dedication to governance and stability.

“We do not want Wild Wild West. They should stay away from this group. We just want to peacefully deliver dividends to our people,” he said.

The Oyo State governor also cautioned against any efforts to circumvent lawful processes.

“Nobody should resort to self-help. Even if you have court judgements, there’s a process. Let the process go through,” he added.

Criticizing any potential misuse of federal power, Makinde stated, “You cannot, because you have so-called federal might, want to propagate the process. This is a federal arrangement.”

Calling on the APC to allow peace to prevail in Osun, Makinde stressed that judicial protocols must be adhered to when handling grievances.

“If anybody has a judgment, there is a procedure for enforcement of court decisions. It is illegal to resort to self-help,” he said.

The statement was issued amid increasing political tensions in Osun. Concluding his address, Makinde congratulated the newly inaugurated council chairmen.
