The residence of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has been sealed off by the police.
The development is not unconnected to growing concerns for his safety amid fears that some youths may attack him.
A statement issued by the police spokesperson said they received intelligence reports indicating the possibility of an attack this morning.
The Kano Emirate has been embroiled in crisis since last year following the enthronement of Muhammad Sanusi as the Emir by the State government under governor Abba Yusuf.
Sanusi was deposed and banished by the Abdullahi Ganduje’s government in 2020.
The tussle for the throne has resulted in a slew of litigations as both Emirs lay claims to the coveted traditional stool and at times brought the ancient city to the brink of all-out anarchy.
