  • The Amaewhule-led faction of the Rivers assembly is loyal to Nyesom Wike.

The supreme court has upheld the ruling of a federal high court, preventing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the accountant-general from disbursing statutory monthly funds to Rivers state.

The highest court also instructed the Martins Amaewhule-led group in the Rivers state house of assembly and other elected lawmakers to reconvene and resume legislative duties.

The faction led by Amaewhule in the Rivers assembly remains aligned with Nyesom Wike, who serves as the minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).

In a judgement lasting one hour and thirty-six minutes, justice Emmanuel Akomaye and a five-member panel unanimously rejected Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s cross-appeal disputing Martin Amaewhule’s authority.
